Chained Inside

When will I
Get to be me?
Get rid of the chains,
And set me free?

When will I
Be able to say
The words kept inside
Which are buried each day?

When will I stop
Being paralyzed by fear?
Afraid if I speak
They'll no longer be here.

When will the day come
Where I won't have to hide
The person that I am,
The one locked inside.

Will the day come
Where I won't be tied down
By the hopes and the dreams
Of those all around?

Will I ever be able
To leave this cell?
Will I be able to
Speak when I leave this hell?

The longer that I have to stay down here
The closer I'll be to a "them", I fear.
