Chains

Why is such pain inflicted on me?

I’ve never harmed a soul.

I’ve tried to lead a good life.

Why am I tortured so?

I am trapped

I can not be freed

I have tried

Oh how I’ve tried

I clawed at the roof

in attempt of escape

yet to no avail

my chains will not break

I am weak

So very weak

I pray that soon

my existence will cease.

Then maybe

I may find peace
