Chains

The chains that hold my heart a prisoner,

Might never be broken

It binds my heart so strong,

I know of nothing called peace

I push away those who care so deeply

In fear that they might release me

Yes,I want to be free but in return I do not want to lose

The shell that protects me from others

The guard of my heart so ruthless it cannot be defeated

Only I have created this monster

From pain and hurt that has grown from my childhood

Reigning king of my heart and soul

I do not truly love because my heart does not allow me

So I can only pretend allowing People to believe it is real

Though it be a lie

Unless my heart has learned to trust them

No one can truly love me

The chains that hold my heart a prisoner ,

Might one day be broken,

My true self revealed to the world

But until then I lie awaiting

Silent,

Alone.
