The Chains of Reality
The world around me is a dungeon
and I am bound by the chains of reality.
I suddenly realize I have nowhere to go,
nowhere to go at all....
My family doesn't believe in me.
My educational success is no longer enough.
Because while I may have the intelligence
I am only truly measured by money,
An object that I sadly do not obtain
"You can't do this" they say
But my mind doesn't want to accept it.
I want to be freed but the chains of reality grip me tightly
So tightly that I feel as if I will never leave,
But day in and day out I continue to try,
Wriggling and fighting my way out of those chains,
Hoping to see a sign that everything will be okay.
But will it truly?
My parents certainly do not believe so...
I feel helpless and alone in this dark dungeon.
I sit and wait for a miracle,
A key to unbind me from these chains
And while everyone around me does not see it,
I see light at the end of this dark dungeon.
Education, success, and a promising future.
And deep down I know that I will be freed and begin living in a better reality.
I will make something of myself
I will be successful.
