Chalk, paper, and iron

Like chalk,

With every use,

I am lessened

Closer to becoming dust

Blown away

Leaving nothing of permanence behind

Like a page in a book,

If I am not seen,

Left unacknowledged

Who then is to know,

The words I contained

What part of the story I held

Yet like iron,

I will remain strong

Bend,

Long before breaking

Endure many trials,

Before life makes me crumble
