A Challenge to Love

Love can't be behind religion Too much tension Too much condescension Of what the youth is "missing" Then people wonder why Why we tend to be so distant As if our absence has them befuddled But with every word they utter They pass judgement on another That's not love That's not Jesus bleeding sin Or what you sing in hymns Or why we praise him It's often hard to hold my chin In a society so dim It won't let God's light shine in Where you are ostracized and scrutinized For everything you do Like who?! Can you speak to nowadays That won't judge you as if you've done a crime And let you know of your faults At any opportune time They wonder why kids drink And why they smoke weed This is no good excuse but It gives them time to be free Cuz' where else would you go If you could turn nowhere in need Now I know you might say Christ But that's not the way they think They're emotionally alone So they'll just puff a little trees Take a little drink Or slit their wrist until they bleed Then you don't look at them the same But let's see why they do these things Because you put them all to shame Because of A's and B's Or they didn't do good in a game We understand you're worried We understand you care But you bring on more negativity Than minds and souls can bear Christ never judged He unconditionally loved And is this not who we follow? I spoke to give your blind eyes sight Inside the mind of a child Trying to live in the light
