Chameleon Eyes in the void
A part of the shadows,
I observe, I learn, I fear, I hide.
All around me, burned candles
That never last,
Unfortunately.
For the shadows reveal all:
Deception, Intention, Boredom—
The true light.
I choose to sit in the dark,
Not willingly.
One day,
A candle lights itself in front of me,
Shining brightly.
I dance with it, only at a distance;
Too bright, my eyes burn—
My chameleon eyes.
One day, it dims.
It shines clearer; it doesn’t burn.
I touch it and feel its warmth.
Lovely light,
Imperfection at its finest.
I wake up freezing in the void,
With no candle in sight.
