Job 17:12

12 These men change night into day;
they say, ‘The light is near
in the face of darkness.’

Change

If through intelligence and thinking deep

for better the world could change

Why when men make light, artificial bright,

is darkness still too strange?

They lighten up day and night

no windows now in need

and still to see beyond one's nose

seems a miracle indeed

Inventions here … inventions there

every "progress" now is seen

Much more pain on this lonely train

as it "trackless" goes where it has been

The human mind not really kind

unless on self it feeds

Full of appetite but seldom right

to fill its selfish need

“One for all and all in one”,

an artificial battle cry.

For one by one…  “love each other” is gone

and also “God with all your might”

One nation called "under God"

just makes it one below

Looking up and serving not

as slowly down the drain it goes

To wind up in a sewage pond

where odors rise in mass,

now add perfume and hold the nose

and think that it will pass

By holding that big old nose

so past the hand it cannot see

It stays and follows the path it chose

so it never will be free

Enslaved to be to freedom still

as sheep in love with the fence

While deer in marvel roam at will

energetic and never dense

The sheep just clutter in one flock

helpless and thoughtless as they be

May be "all for all" is not a shock

if the True Shepherd lives with me
