Change
I look in this world and all I see
Are tall, white women who are skinnier than me
Their piercing blue eyes are just so stunning
And the makeup they cake on, good God they’re cunning
All with thick, long, wavy hair
And all the men can’t help but stare
But little ole’ me gets looked right over
Like I’m the unwanted three leaf clover
I have dark skin and charcoal black eyes
But hey, I don’t think I’m that bad you guys!
My hair is never messy and my clothes aren’t that old
And I promise you I have a heart of gold
But in this world girls like me
I think we all tend to agree
It’s hard to hear the words, “beautiful” and “pretty”
When I’m looked down upon with such great pity
So when asked about what I want to change
I don’t think that it’s so strange
To talk about this touchy subject,
About what the world considers perfect
A world where women short or tall
Can feel like they can have it all
Black, White, Asian, Hispanic, or mixed
Every girl should feel like they’ll be picked
Your teeth are healthy and your eyes are fine
And it is completely normal to be a size nine
I know those models look like they have no fat
But trust me, NO ONE looks like that
I want a world where beauty is redefined
And people take on the new state of mind:
Beauty is not one look, but rather a range
And that is all I want to change
