Change

My cheek turned pink with the brush of his knuckle,
And my mind became convinced that the world was cruel.
Cold wind blew around me and as I walked my knees began to buckle.
Day by day I lived my life as a pessimistic fool.

A stranger, I met, took my hand & said
"Darling, many of us are here for you,
don't be afraid if you have tears to shed.
But don't be ashamed of the blood you bled."

Uncertain, I was, but now I know:
Happiness is real, happiness is true.
I must pick myself up and go with the flow.
There was no point in always feeling blue.

That feeling of change is something new,
Ten times harder than it seems.
But the world has become better within my view,
Hopefully my newfound happiness will come off in beams.
