Change
Change
They say it’s inevitable
That it happens to everyone
We all grow up and evolve
But when I see you
I still think of those afternoons
Playing and dancing
Just laughing and joking
Without a care in the world
You look like the same person
And if I wanted to
I could fool myself into believing you are
But you’re not
Life’s sharp razors
Have cut your smooth edges
The seemingly endless supply
Of ideas that spewed from your mind
Blocked by self-doubt
And the world’s harsh judgment
Your light and airy skip
Replaced by slow steps
Burdened by the drudgery of daily life
The sound of laughter from your mouth
Muted by bitter complaints
Who are you? Who am I?
Change
They say its up to me
