Change
When I first met change
I was swept off of my feet.
Change took me to the places that I loved
And made me feel loved in the process.
Together, Change and I took off
Running through adventure after adventure together
Often becoming tired yet incredibly happy as well.
But I’d love to destroy Change
For Change is what tore me apart.
Change decided to pick me up in his lanky arms one day and
Carry me to a place no longer safe.
Change abandoned me when I needed him most
And when I cried for a way out of my troubles.
Sometimes Change would come back, however
And give me false hope.
He’d leave as soon as he came
Leaving me in the dust.
When I decided I was fed up with Change
Sick of him and his flakiness and unpredictability
I decided to leave him behind.
He would never influence me again.
He wouldn’t change who I was or what I did.
I dropped everything
And seized control.
But who was I to control Change?
He only pursued me all the more.
Change and I are connected
In a way that I never realized.
We can’t sever our ties.
Change still chases me
Though I always resist through both the good and the bad
But he’s persistent; he’ll never give up.
For Change is necessary.
