I am sitting in English class

Listening to "I have a dream'

And I am angry

Because the boys in the back are laugh

I want to stand and turn and scream

"Do you not understand?

Our world is in agony and you are letting it suffer!"

And I am white

But I am also a girl and I am human and I see

I see injustice everywhere I turn

And I am angry

Why are little girls afraid of uncles, cousins, fathers

When they should be free?

Little girls should not have to cling to thier mother's hip because they are

Afraid

And why are my black brothers and sisters being blamed for their hurt?

A cornered cat will lash out

We have given them no other choice but to fight back

I see Agony in our world

I see Pain and Anger and Lust

And I just want to see Peace

That is what inspires me
