Why does it seem like one of the hardest things to do is try and change your mind?

And it seems like no matter how hard you try, it is something that takes up all of your time.

It is so easy to build bad habits, and before we know it, it is part of our daily lives,

And when you try to break these bad habits, it would be easier to cut it off with a knife.

Before you know it, these habits spiral out of control and take over everything that you are,

And when you try to change them, you don't know where to start, because it all seems so far.

With every step you take, you are always heading in the right direction,

Because it takes you a long time to realize that these are your old habits, and they no longer resemble your current reflection.

It seems like every step in recovery is one step forward and ten steps back,

And you think you are failing because of the willpower that you lack.

However, there is a process of learning to let go of the old you and to change your life moving on,

Because no matter how hard you try, the old you is never actually gone.

It is a battle that you are going to have to fight everyday from here on out,

And the struggles that come along with it will make you want to scream and rip your hair out.

All you have to do is allow yourself to breathe and to not be okay,

And you will see that it slowly does get easier everyday.

Allowing yourself to be human and feel the pain is a part of the process,

Because navigating the road to recovery is like a game of chess.

It takes strategy and skill to find the route that is right for you,

Because it is hard to heal from the trauma after everything that you have been through.
