Change In Disguise

As I saw her crying, my heart shattered

I asked her what's wrong but all i received was silence

I wanted to hold her, but she was white and I was colored

So I just stood there waiting for her to ask for some guidance

But that moment never came because we were just too different

I was ignorant while she was brilliant

I turned around feeling powerless and helpless

I wanted to be the remedy to her pain but all I felt was fear

Maybe this was my imagination, but as I started walking I heard a voice say "Don't Leave..."

With everyone's eyes piercing through my skin

I mustered up the courage to speak to her

She was apprehensive at first, but then she loosened up

We talked for hours not caring about the wandering eyes

We both didn't know it yet, but we were change in disguise

At the end of the day, it didn't matter about our appearance or the color of our skin

But rather, the warmth of our hearts within
