A Change for Love

I have an issue of thinking too much Worrying about the things that don't matter Or do they? You're there to push those thoughts away As gently as you smile and pull me in For a hug I don't deserve My darkest thoughts, my fears, and desires All kept in your heart, a trove Of things to use against me I cling, in my desperation Selfishly wanting you to be mine Unworthy of your affection I take your happiness and Devour it, sustaining myself Because I am weak, a leech All these things, I am vile For doing to the one who loves me Because I cannot love myself But because I love you I want to change To be the person who can give and be Worthy of your time And your care And your love Because I love you I want to learn To treat you like you've done Strong to bear your problems And your hopes And your thoughts Because I love you I want to live And restrain you less So that you're free to choose me Or another Or nobody Because I love you I want to love and be loved To be selfish because I know You're selfish too And scared And worried Because I love you. And because you love me. I am willing to think less And love more And smile more And be more For you.
