Change the Narrative

Barrenness seemed dark in the day to me walking along the strange familiar path

to the strangeness of the words I couldn’t take back.

She had said, and I believed, though I wonder who I should praise

And if my praise was ever a choice.

An ominous wall of future months stares me in the face

As I reflect on her words...

“This one thing doesn’t have to define you,”

She said, in the time that was ending,

When I had nothing to say we echoed

When, and when, and when

Are you going to change the narrative?
