A change In Perspective
Benevolence to Enmity
As bitter as it seems, as loathsome as it seems,
The people who make our lives, also ruin them,
With good intentions they try to help, the try to encourage comradeship,
But in reality, they’re sabotaging the unity,
The transition from High school to Middle school was an unexpected change,
Not the coursework, nor the time changes or class durations,
It was the competitiveness, the suddenly blooming enmity.
It seemed that it was all the same; it seemed easy to adjust too,
The beginning of it was easy, everybody was the same,
My friends, my enemies, and my acquaintances from middle school were all the same,
But it changed, all of it changed, for the same people who tried to make it better,
Simply shattered it.
The same teachers who take so much care to keep my school environment healthy,
Destroyed the peace I once had with my friends,
They spoke of class rank, GPA, and to not trust anybody,
We were taught to always look behind our backs, not to trust our bests of friends.
Is this a spying agency in which we must remain secretive even to our friends?
Is this even a school anymore, or a place for rivals to spar?
Is this what these teachers want to achieve?
I find myself alone now, no one to turn to,
The seats beside me on the lunch table remain vacant,
I want to be soothed, to be told that I’ll be their friend no matter what,
When I try to find the friendly, affable friends of mine again,
I’m greeted with suspicious stares and a turn of their heads.
I will gladly reject my academic progress for a true friend,
Am I the only one who still feels this?
Am I the only one that sees that academics are only one part of one’s life?
Why have my own teachers sparked this?
Why have they destroyed my comrades?
Why have they changed them so much?
Why have they made them go from benevolence to enmity?
Why must it be like this?
No, this isn’t a school environment,
This is an environment, in which enemies live in,
This is no environment for a soon to be adult,
This is an environment which they have started, and they must end.
