The Change of Seasons
Millions of tears running,
Running from the breaking walls
Onto the creations of unwanted skin.
With bumps and bruises,
It’s hard enough,
To see the crime scene,
And believe these same hands,
Rake metal against my own soul
Believing i was a meaningless creation.
But i slept that night and woke up again,
And despite the rush of vicious thoughts flooding my brain,
I made it through to another day,
I, for once did not endlessly avoid my own reflection,
Nor did i declare my solemn pact to never care.
My ears, for once listened to the sound of the birds singing,
The pedestrians whistling to the beat of their hearts,
My skin felt for the warmth of the sun on these bare arms.
My eyes saw the scenery of a new start,
As the cold ice melted away,
As the seasons began to change,
As the trees began to grow,
And the flowers started to bloom.
To the start of something new.
