Changes in Chicago
Since the world is so large,
I think it's best to focus on our own surroundings.
As an individual I don't have the automatic power to change
the world at once
but what I can focus on is the city that I have lived in all my life
Chicago.
What I would like to change is
the number of homeless people begging for change at every intersection,
the number of Chicago Public High School seniors who graduate college ,
the number of pot holes on the streets,
the health care provided to the poor,
the after school programs made available to the minority children of the South side,
an equal opportunity for every citizen to become employed.
I'd like these changes to happen,
that way Chicago can become a model city for all.
If homeless people were taken of the streets and employed,
crime rates might fall and neighborhoods would flourish.
If the majority instead of the minority of
Chicago Public High School students graduated college
then this younger generation would face open doors of opportunity.
If the pot holes were patched up, then maybe the city itself would patch up:
Providing health care to those who need it most
and keeping children safe after school in the South side neighborhoods.
I think that if everyone was to work together
from members of the school council
to the alderman of each district
to the mayor himself
then great changes would be seen upon the streets of
Chicago.
