Changing Beautiful

Wed, 03/12/2014 - 00:51 -- Jenneca

My dearest friends, welcome to the 21st century

where a beautiful woman is defined by her money.

diets, plastic surgery, and let's not forget make up.

You see, a beautiful woman has no pores on her face, let alone any imperfections

A beautiful woman has enough “self control” to starve herself

because beauty, of course, is more important than health.

400 to 600. The number of ads an average person is exposed to in a day

And like a fish in a stream, we tend to take to their bait.

most ads if not directly, at least indirectly shove not only the value of beauty down our throats,

but the idea that beauty is value.

400 to 600 times in one day

we are reminded that somewhere, there is someone, with a much prettier face.

Products say skinnier, smoother, softer

if you just buy our product we guarantee you'll be hotter

Then there's symmetry.

Did you know it is nearly impossible for a human being to be born perfectly symmetrical.

And yet surprise, thanks to the wonders of modern technology and photo shop,

models are edited to look perfectly symmetrical

as this is most pleasing to the eye.

So while yes, they are beautiful, please keep in mind

that it all is just one big fat lie.

Because not even the girls in the magazines, look like the girls in the magazines.

They distort their faces in order to distort our sense of beauty

They drain our self esteem in order to drain our bank accounts.

Well wake up. It's time we regained our sense of reality

because as of right now we're caught up in their fantasy.

How about for once we tell them that beauty isn't everything

How about for once, we tell them what beauty really means

Beautiful is the girl who goes into surgery with a shaved head, fighting to keep her life.

Because that surgery is more beautiful than a nose job or cheek lift.

Beautiful is the girl who has imperfections that set apart

because being different is more beautiful than trying to be like the rest of them.

Beautiful is the girl who stands up for what she believes in

because standing up for what's right, is more beautiful than walking down any runway.

So stop letting beauty be the source of your insecurities and your fears.

Stop letting beauty be the inadequate reflection, you see in the mirror.

Because beauty my friends no matter how cliché it may sound,

real, true beauty, there is only one place it is found.

It lies in our hearts, it lies somewhere within,

it is deeper and more beautiful than the surface of our skin.

True beauty is created, not by money but by love.

It is found in a helping hand, a warm smile, or a hug.

So you know the truth,

in fact, you really have always known the truth.

So stop letting them tell you who you should be

Go out and show them, what beautiful means.
