Changing the Ink

Tears escaping the corners of my eyes

As I looked down on my baby’s face

She watched my cries

Emotions pouring out in a race

Baby, welcome- take a look

This world is your unwritten book

Do what you want- do what you can

Etch your legacy into every woman and man

Darling, you will see things that are nice

But you will also see quite the bit of vice

Change the mouth of the liar

The one who was the betrayer

Hatred and ignorance, you will find

Try also to change that in mankind

People crying into mirrors you will see

Remind them they are as pretty as can be

You may see wrists with pouring blood

Understand, they see their lives as mud

People will look at situations and think of Hell

Reassure them that everything will be well

Baby, welcome, take a look

In front of you are empty pages

It’s time to start writing your own book
