Changing Life for the Better

Through summer heat,

and eye-stinging sweat,

I work in the dirt and think

of when I will have my own company.

The path is not straight,

it winds like a country road.

There will be mountains of stress,

that will make sucess all the sweeter.

I have started this quest,

I'm now at the bottom.

During school I climb,

scratch, claw, and fight.

Once I leave I will be higher,

done half my ascent,

and will know there are skills,

I have yet to gain.

After I have my first job,

I will learn more and more.

Languages, math, negotiating,

all to reach the office in the sky.

When at last I am done,

and the final promotion received,

I will continue to grow,

my new company.

The path is not easy,

that much I know.

But with all my heart,

Success is inevitable.
