Changing Roots

Trees start as seeds and so did I,

The way they grow throughout time to become strong and stand high.

As humans get older we adapt and adjust,

And we learn who tells the truth and who not to trust.

From a young age I had very strong beliefs,

Similar to how early on, trees grow leafs.

I was stuck in my ways planting very strong roots,

Little did I know, those roots could come loose.

I had little understanding and acceptance of others,

The only people I learned from were my parents and 4 older brothers.

As I grew up I had to learn on my own,

To accept people that are different from you and help those alone.

I have changed from a judgemental young tree,

Now I'm developing into the strong person I know I can be.

While roots are important and keep your foundation strong,

In my case, as I grew up they changed all along.

This is a short poem comparing how I grew up to a tree growing.
