Changing Us
My action. Your reaction. My choice.
My one change would change us.
No longer would I be your girlfriend.
No longer would I stress this lesbian relationship.
I would break your heart, subtle and sincere.
You would go running and weep.
My heart cold as ice, but my spirit finally free.
No more of the jealous rants and fights.
No more sex I didn't want in the night.
I would break your heart, no bandaid would work.
You would lie in bed with a gun to your head.
My life free and elated, but my heart heavy with grief.
No more staying up late watching movies we've seen.
No more bickering about who was being 'mean'.
I would break your heart, and it would stop.
You would lie 6 feet under, two holes in your head.
You would break my heart, now yours cold as ice.
I would lie in bed, a wet pillow under my head.
Maybe, I wouldn't change us afterall.
