Chanson Archaic

There liveth a song in mine heart--
I feel it;
It beats at my breast
For thee, my love,
From the depths of my soul.

Mine eyes know not
Why I must look upon thy face,
But to do so fills me with great joy.

Mine heart beats ever
In anticipation of thy smile.
Thy sweet mystery and subtle misery
Draw me ever nearer,
My foolish self what loves thee.

Thine eyes fill me with a wonder
Such as that which
Mine heart has never known.
How gentle and vague
Art thine eyes,
Escaping my gaze,
but never mine attention,
And never my thoughts.
