The Chaos Of Silence
Pain in my mind or pain in my heart,
things of simple matter have a way of tearing me apart
Around me is chaos
A bustling city in high definition
Vibrant
While I fade in the background,
blurry and grey
A man strolls toward me asking for a lighter,
his voice in slow motion
My eyes begin to widen
as the red horns begin to rip through the top of his mahogany brown head
His gentle smile, into piercing fangs
dripping with crimson blood
I can feel it crawling, fighting its way out
pushing past the anxiety
the fear of rejection
pushing past
Me
The words I wish to speak
Why can’t I speak?
The chaos trapped inside me, with my lost and abandoned words
never to be freed
I look back at the devilish man
challenging me to use my voice
I see in his left hand, clutched in his claws
my voice, held precariously in his grip
with all the power to take away what I value most
My freedom of speech, my expression, my passion, my beliefs, who I am.
My soft, petrified hazel's turn to cold steel
I will not be defeated.
“Sorry sir, I don’t have a lighter.”
The horns fall way piece by piece, carried by the gentle city breeze
The red in his eyes melt into a sparkling emerald
His claws replaced with strong, supple hands
And the fangs morph into a blinding smile
Oh, how the chaos can disappear so quick.
