Chapter 16
Lights flicker and fade,
Dream almost die and dry,
Possibilities dangle and drown,
Opportunities come and go.
Tomorrow was never promised,
Yesterday seemed so painless.
Today is not a present.
All along you were tricked, not treated.
Completely clueless from current causes.
Fear was a constant factor in your fututre.
Cloudy figures fill your mind,
as you left everything behind.
Inspirations, motivations, determinations
all became complications.
And you wish for some sort of confirmation.
Everyday is just like the other,
waking up sighing, "oh brother."
Hoping maybe today you won't just be another,
crying, screaming, shouting, "mother-"
This sinking feeling in your head
makes you want to stay in bed.
Waking up was a thing to dread.
"Everything will work out," they said.
Athletics were not your forte,
but apparently you could portray.
That spotlight seemed to have more faith in you than you did.
But a dream you once believed in,
these people were supposed to be your kin.
You're still not sure if there was good intention.
Nights upon nights, tidal waves drowned your eyes.
Every hour had your brain fried.
Every minute you felt tears ready to fly.
But of course, no one had pried.
The thing you loved most became a chore,
still that thought pains your core.
"The almost girl" never getting more.
And now here you are again, without a clue,
still confused on what your future will have you do.
Looking back, you don't know how you pushed through.
It almost seems like deja vu.
