Chapters

The first pages full of anticipation

All the possibilities held within

Will it be a sweet romance

Or will it be a chilling horror?

Limitless potential between these thin bindings

The beginning stages go by

And so much is learned

Infinite discoveries and opportunities

Held in this foreign world

Naive to the lurking dangers

A new chapter unfolds

And the bliss is gone

Problems arise

Some vanish with time

The pages fly by

As I race through the book

Always eager for what the next page holds

Just trying to get through the chapters

Knowing greater things are ahead

All too soon, the conflicts resolve

The last words read

The book set down

Atop all the rest

And just like that, forgotten
