Chasing

My sad heart growls loud like a lion,

Yet you pretend like you hear just nothing.

All I desire is your love’s buy in,

And staring afar I can’t help falling.

Fall with the desperate heart still alive.

Cry as you walk happily without care.

I seek your presence to live and survive.

Ignore me with a quick flip of your hair.

But as you ramble with that other man,

I seek you no longer, for I have learned

That cooking pancakes in a sticky pan,

Is much more pleasing than being love-burned.

Yet, I, like a dog, chase the cat farther,

Because I can’t find a better partner.
