Chasing Fame

I had a secret love

A love which was hidden by shyness

By the overwhelming thought of the dull Big L

Loneliness

But one day my heart of iron and my soul of fire

Decided to do what was deemed by desire

As a step towards facing my fear of the unknown

So that my love could see my mind shown

Which was but the dwelling place of her precious face

But then Fame

Fame and Fortune became

A friend to my new proclaimed Dame

Now elevated by status the stairs did grow

And dimmer dimmer the Light would show

My love was there til Fame flew it away

Now I must wait til I'm famous to fight another day.

But then I would have Fame

So now its plain

To me that as I chase my Love

Another chases me like a Dove

Chasing, Searching for ground

So the lost Noah, can be found.

When will the running end?

When you sit down, stupid!

And wait.

Honestly, though poetry is not a subject I tend to visit frequently, I enjoy reading and deciphering the meanings of any poetry in all forms. As a music enthusiast, I find that music with lyrics that have no purpose might as well not of included the lyrics and just sold the instrumental. As an actor, without the many poetic forms involved in theater acting wouldn't have its impact. So in a way, by becoming a poet, I am completing a required skill set needed to be successful in my industry. I am an African-American Male with a heart of gold, a mind of power, and a soul found only in the depths that is the bible. I am an artist. And not just in a sense of art like pictures or paintings, but an artist in the sense of creating things and beings and characters and messages of magnificent magnitude. I live in my mind and soul. Poetry can o0nly show my true form.
