Chasing Purple, feeling Blue

Purple, not lavender maybe violet.
Loving the color is easy
As long as I don't focus
On the different shades.
And who really know their actual names
They're not as well known as you, blue.

From purple to blue
I am substituting what I am really chasing
For the pseudo thrill,
The potential excitement
That comes with you.
Just to wind up dissatisfied, weary
Emotionally and physically feeling, blue.

Purple seeming mostly out of reach,
Somewhat unknown, and a bit scary
Might be the real reason
I am obsessed with you.
Like the color of most of my clothes,
I am avoiding the possibility of change
Afraid of taking a leap of faith.
You've become my consolation,
The familiar and safer option, blue.

All I really want is to feel that
"Purple Rain" but blue is everywhere.
Like the sky, the ocean
And sometimes the moon,
Blue is all around us.
Something so omnipresent,
That, unfortunately,
I can't have all to myself.
Having to share you
Sadly diminish your value, blue.

Blue, you've always been there for me
But mostly as a substitute,
Something temporary to fill in a void.
I'll always be happy to have you
Whilst also feeling incomplete,
Like something special is missing
That can make the moment even better.

Am I ready now?
Am
I willing to do whatever it takes;
Tear down these wall of familiarity
That I've been hiding behind?
Do I want to take a chance, put myself out there,
And risk everything to get to you, purple?
