Chasing Shadows

The shadows of our past

The shadows of out future

We follow what we will

With hopelessness in futility.

Like a moth to a flame

We chase our desires still

We know not where

We are going

-

Lost in our greed

We have no goal in mind

What goal is there to follow?

Where will life lead us?

In denial we believe

In wrath we deceive

With insanity we can’t breath

We get closer only to fail

-

Life is a flame and we shine

The brighter we fall

The dimmer we live

We all get too close and burn

The haunting mystery fire

The vague center of purity

We resist in restlessness

Yet we have already reached it

-

The event horizon of the end

The black hole of life

We are all already doomed

We cope as we can still

We run from this blight

Our own vitality betrays

Like beautiful fratricide

We are chasing shadows
