Check.
Hide my cruel words under a cough
check
Spray enough perfume to hide the water being off
check
Never participate so they won’t ask me to read out loud
check
Binge and purge to lose another pound
check
Do just enough work to pass the class
check
Stay a little longer because going home is like walking on glass
check
Avoid him so the stealing on my innocence I'll forget
check
Pay for groceries with another bet
check
Protect myself by once again changing my route
check
Can’t apply to college so mom and dad won't be found out
check
Sit with the druggies because it’s better than sitting alone
check
Lie to cover up any truth I have shown
check
Look around and see my classmates secret lives
See you comfortable with these lies
check
As I give my advice, money, home, soul
You add on pointless busy work and we fall in a whole
check
Only seventeen unsure of how to deal with any problem
Let alone these, when I’m left alone to solve them
check
wishing for adult guidance when books and Google is not enough
But when were sworn to secrecy trusting is rough
check
Searching for any reason to believe we can trust
Expecting us to do so without proper cause is anything but just
check
When it’s said ‘be a teacher to aid and assist'
Yet no one ever seems to ask then persist
check
After a bad thing goes public and it is asked “were there signs?”
Don’t wonder why we pretend to be just fine
check
Resist lying to yourself and saying you tried because
All you ever really had to do was
check
