Check Yes or No

Would you like to be in my show?

What a spectacle we would be,

you and I!

The crowds would love us,

all smiles and smarm.

We could be famous,

the talk of the town!

Let them laugh at the two blind fools

leading each other around the ring.

How the cameras will love us–

remember to smile!

I’ll ignore how you crack your bones like popcorn

if you can withstand a wandering hand.

It seems only fair.

Why so hesitant? It’s less than they expect.

We’ll sell tickets to our fairy-tale

and charge a conscience a piece.

Better to be gorged on lies than starved for attention.

So check yes or no with your nibbled-up pencil,

pass in your paper when you’re done!

And without further hesitation, ladies and gentlemen,

let the show begin!
