Chemical Imbalance

Woke up this morning quite dazed and confused,

Realizing where I lay has made me amused.

I am no longer in the comfort of my home,

I am stuck on an island shipwrecked and alone.

I pinch myself and ask, "Is this possibly real?"

As I look at the pinch mark and see I don't feel.

Then reality sinks in that I really am here,

Being alone on this island is not what I fear.

Fear spreads so fast that I become frantic,

My thoughts start to race as I start to panic.

I don't have my medication, what will I do?

Considering the possibilities, I have no clue.

I need them to feel normal, alert and alive.

Without my medication how will I ever survive?

I need to take my medication twice a day,

It makes me feel better about what I do, think and say.

A day without it makes me crazy and unstable,

Thorazine, Seroquel and Lithium are on a few of the labels.

I wish that I had them here with me,

While I sit in the sand by the calming sea.

As time passes I start to feel numb,

I guess i'll just have to see who I become.
