A Chemical Reaction

Eyes meet,

Chemicals start to react.

Personalities click

You find your soul mate,

An acquaintance

Companion,

Kindred spirit,

            Best Friend,

A lover.

Your better half.

And all it took was some chemicals to react.

To find a mate and attract.

            A formula with two,

Nothing more than test tubes and experiments.

The zest wears off, grows thin.

A lover’s spat.

And soon your love is out that door at-

            And crack!

A heart once whole is split.

The next person to catch your eye.

            Caution used,

You hold back.
