Cherish

The sand

like blades of glass

The sky

The color of ash

The sun sets overhead

The sand

The color of bloodred

The sky

Turning into a thunderhead

It was a relief from the sweltering sun

The night had just begun.

Every breathe I took tasted of salt.

I closed my eyes,

This was my fault.

I begin to look outside of myself

For someone

For something

To blame

For I was ashamed.

I never realized what I had,

Until it was gone.

The water boiled from the orange embers that were burning,

I Purifed the water

As if to replenish and purify my soul.

I would cherish;

Myself

others

The simple things in life.
