Chess
I can tell from your eyes, you've been hurt by someone before. And even though your heart may be true, I'm still scared to get close to you. No matter how happy you make me, beaten puppies are the ones that turn into killers. I want to help you, but you have to let me in first. How can I expect that of you when I won't let you anywhere near my heart? I see the potential in us, I see what we could be, we'll be nothing until one of us makes the first move. A game of chess with feelings as pawns, we've been in this place for far too long. How can I expect to create something when I won't risk it getting destroyed? Over, and over, and over again, it will fall. They say to pick yourself back up when you fall, but I've fallen too much to get up this time. Only time will tell which of us will let our defenses down, but what's the point in breaking down a wall that surrounds nothing but stone? The Greeks got inside the walls of Troy and nothing but chaos was the result. If I let you in, it'll be the end of us both. Your screams to escape will match my calls for you to numb the pain of my mind. Seeing the pain that you live with will kill me to know that someone hurt you so. I would throw your burdens onto mine as my legs crumble underneath me. They support the weight of a whole world wanting me to fail and push back with the passion and desire of success. I couldn't take the weight of your world, and you couldn't take mine. How can I expect to create something when I won't risk it getting destroyed? Over, and over, and over again, it will fall. They say to pick yourself back up when you fall, but I've fallen too much to get up this time. I will never be able to rebuild the walls of Troy around the Trojan horse that destroyed it. Why would I shelter the cause of my inevitable doom?
