The Chewed On Pencil

Have you ever taken a test you weren’t ready for?

Many people chew on their fingernails but I chew on my wooden pencil.

Feeling the texture rub across my smooth fingertips makes me calm down.

It makes me feel like I’m not the only being broken during this tough test.

Anxiety gets taken away on the poor pencil that’s just trying to help me succeed.

In the end it makes me focus on the little short answer i have to respond to.

It's only five  points and the pencil is two dollars.

I’d take getting a new pencil over losing five points anyday.

This is why I chew on the wooden pencil that doesn’t deserve to get chewed on.
