The Child

The yell The tantrums, feet, hands Head The constant cries Feel how it sinks The lightest sensation to be dropped Upon your shoulders The redden eyes, the salty tears The water marked stained cheeks Their hands rubbing their eyes Curled to be small Clinging to you The hands wrapped around you To feel comfort Safety It triggers to open A response To nurture To hold To care for Wrap your arms on the child To endeavor the outbursts Futile, for it won't Attempted to control But cannot Sensation controls you to go Cradle the child Caress the hair, arm Make shushing sounds Rock the child so it can know There's at least this love left Left for them to smile the next day A simple action, changes
