The Child and the Youth
The Child
Look at the way she talks: so crude
She walks like a model but looks like a fool
She tainted herself: was so pure.
Look at her; I don't recognize her anymore.
She had such maturity
Had such little care for the unimportant things
She gave her all into everything
She was going to be special someday
She was going to show those
that tease me
How being different is a good thing
How being emotional makes me a human being
But now she is a stranger to me
The Youth
Look at the way she lets them push her around
She walks with a skip and looks childish
She ruins herself; could be so popular
Look at her; I don’t recognize her anymore
She’s changed; doesn’t cry anymore.
She even has more friends than she would have before
Why can’t she appreciate the change
Why not let the past stay
She was constantly sad all of the time
Resolved herself to being hated for no crime
Those people made her change her mind
Psychologically damaged she can’t see
They will no longer get the best of me
The Child
I’m worse than before!
So what is this change for?
The Youth
To make me feel wanted a little more
The Child
Is feeling accepted worth losing who you are?
The Youth
It's too late; I don’t know who I am anymore
