A Child With A Child

I can remember, When I saw my brothers heading to school, You battered me for asking for a pen, I thought I had done something wrong, Now I realise its my fate. I can see it clearly, Those days you gave my brothers mountains of food, I devoured my own hunger and slept on empty stomach. Even that couldn't ease your fury, My existence is just so wrong in your life. I could sense it, When I played with the tattered doll, You gave away mine to the other, I thought life was still joking with me Until papa gave away my destiny to him forever. That silent night was so lonely, When I screamed my throats out, My eyes were red but no else heard, Relief rejoiced in their evil eyes, And they all danced to my fake womanhood. Just wo months in hell, my tummy gained weight. The innocent me never knew what it meant to carry a life, No one to talk to except the senior devils of a wife. My beatings knew no bound every night. When I saw the kids in the heart of the noon, Playing ten-ten and Coro, I knew I have been robbed of my childhood. Pleadings to be taken away could not be heard. All I do is to sit across the wall, Where I wept all day, Remembering the night that little girl in me died, Now I am just a child with another child.
