A Child Left Behind

Location

I am pain.
I am calling for you to reach me,
Because there’s everything to gain.

I am a kid.
Young enough to not remember when you left,
But old enough to remember that you did.

I see you.
In every foster parent that passes me by, I wait for you.
Waiting for you to come through.

Because you love me, right?
You promised you did.
But you never put up a fight.

So here I stand,
I fight for myself.
Because you’re never coming back.
I understand that now,
That you don’t know how,
To love a child,
Who only wants to love you back.
