I am no longer a child, Mother
I am no longer that one for you to care after
I am no more a child in your arms,
but rather in the arms of those I trust myself with.

I am no longer a child, Father
I am no longer the little princess of  your castle
I am no more a child that kisses you goodnight,
but rather I'm kissing the man you gave me away to.

I am no longer a child, Godparents
I am no longer the one you would care for if you could
I am no more a child on your lap
but rather I have a child sitting on my lap.

I am no longer a child, Grandmother
I am no longer the one you share family secrets with.
I am no longer a child that sits and listens
but rather I'm listening to the news in fear.

I am no longer a child, Grandfather
I am no longer the one you run after
I am no more a child sleeping in your truck
but rather I'm sleeping in tears

I am no longer a child, I
I am no longer carefree in this world daydreaming.
I am no more a child that does everything
but rather I'm fighting for this world

I am no longer a child, world
I am no longer  the one that picks flowers and makes chains
I am no more a child that listens to songs in the wind
but rather I'm listening to words of woe
