Childhood to Adulthood
Childhood to Adulthood
To be quite honest
I didn’t know when childhood stops or begins.
But I have a pretty good guess.
I believe we are all victims of our childhoods ending and adulthood beginning.
Yes, things start changing it’s an undeniable fact.
But you don’t know when, where.
How fast, or with whom.
You just know when it happens.
All hell breaks loose.
Hair starts growing, hormones start flowing.
We all have been victim of that.
But when one realizes their not a kid anymore they expect it to be the hormones, the hair, but not your parents fighting.
And not your Dad’s mental illness turning him into the monsters that hid under your bed and in your closet at night right in front of your eyes.
Not you coming home from middle school to your mom picking you up with bruises on her arms telling you “your father beat me up?” right after you had a fight with him for not wanting to take you to school.
That’s when childhood stops and adulthood begins.
When you realize others and your own actions affect others directly and indirectly.
That’s when the bubbles you use to blow popped.
You didn’t know why, They just did without warning.
And you start to blame yourself “ Did I not put enough dish soap in the water, or did I put to much water and that’s why the bubble popped ?”
Either way it's still my fault.
Emotions start flowing guilt, anger, sadness, depression.
And just like a child I fall I cry, but it takes that one person, my mom saying to me like a child “its okay, its okay” and dust me off,and I'm off to playing again.
The crying stops and so does the pain from the fall.
And just like that its takes one person to tell you it's not your fault.
One person to make you realize your not at fault for others actions.
To tell you and help you understand that the pain you feel is temporary not permanent. To help you understand not even your past will determine who will you will be in the future.
Just like your childhood you’ll have monsters.
You’ll have bubbles.
You’ll have fun, love, laughter, and that person who picks you up and dust you off.
And maybe you be that for someone else.
So in all reality childhood is not that different from adulthood it just seems so when all hell breaks loose.
