Childhood Cancer

I’ve taken you down once

Will I have to do it twice?

No one can be sure where my future lies

Between a hospital stays and the uncomfortable bed,

It’s impossible for anyone to get inside my head

About how I’m feeling or thinking

The world can feel like it’s coming down on me, just by blinking.

The constant fear of this monster coming back

Is a feeling I wish that I would lack.

I was too young the first time

Those years taken were supposed to be my prime.

Hanging out with friends and going to school,

All were gone, and there was nothing I could do.

I fought for my life

I came through on top

When will this monster ever stop?

My story with it is hopefully over

But there is no guarantee

I won’t rest until there are no more kids living with it

A cure is what I will hopefully find

That's the main focus on my mind.

Childhood Cancer.
