Childhood Explosion

Quite a fright I was

as darkness fell

and my childhood exploded

It was erased from my mind

as all of it was stolen

and everything felt hopeless

We were taken away

as she stayed there

and consumed her drugs

Nothing was okay

as I took care of myself

and worked for everything I owned

I looked at myself

as tears fell

and the child inside of me dissipated

Again,

   Quite

         a fright

I was

    as my

                  childhood

exploded.
