Childhood Memories

Originally this was all about emotion,

But in my mind that caused a commotion.

Because I don’t write for the benefit of me,

I write for the enjoyment of little chickadees.

There’s nothing more fun than writing in riddles

That make little kids roll over in giggles.

My inspiration comes from Dr. Seuss

And the jumble of words he got without booze.

And though my words don’t come from a cat,

I’ve never been told my stories fall flat.

It may not be mature with metaphors.

Juxtaposition just runs through the doors.

But babies don’t want all that fluff,

They just want make-believe stuff.

And if I can contribute to their childhoods,

Well, let me say, that’s a life spent good.
