Childhood Poem
Pink walls, princess stickers, and stars galore.
A point in time from the womb to the age of four.
At the age of five, another human came to life.
Being the only child changed from left to right.
My grandma next door was my babysitter.
Always stuffed me with food so I wouldn’t be hungry later.
Sometimes I had to stay all day and night.
Played on my 3ds till my eyelids shut tight.
The more I grew,
the more people I knew.
I learned different colors and met friends in preschool.
However, every class has a student that breaks the rules.
Dancing on tables was my speciality.
The discipline I received didn’t feel so good on my tushy.
The principal knew my name by heart.
I sat in her office with my head low and legs crossed-applesauce.
Trouble was not really my forte.
Only good manners were on display.
My personality would still come out to play
However, at times it had to be put away
Throughout middle school I had issues at home.
A lot of times I felt very alone.
The split of my parents broke my heart
Changed my life from light to dark
Finding happiness everyday became a challenge.
Being strong for my brother was what I had to manage.
The stage of maturity grew upon me.
My responsibility was to be his security.
The life of high school soon hit me as a teen.
New friends, old fellows, and everything in between.
Thanks to someone special, my eyes were opened to a new reality.
School became my main priority.
Working and striving to pass my classes.
creating a vision like sight through glasses.
The stress from grades becomes overwhelming.
Can’t help the feeling of my brain swelling.
I used to think life was just fun and games
until reality hit me with no one else to blame.
So far in life, I learn more each day.
Taking in wisdom and experiencing life along the way.
